Pujols agrees to terms with Angels on landmark deal - MLB

Albert Pujols (notes) , the heart and hammer of the St. Louis Cardinals for more than a decade, will leave St. Louis and sign with the Los Angeles Angels , sources said Thursday morning.
Latecomers to the Pujols derby, the Angels will pay Pujols $250 million to $260 million over 10 years, a devastating turn for the Cardinals and a departure from past organizational philosophies for Arte Moreno's Angels.
After a month-long search for wealth and happiness, most notably in Miami, Pujols will not return to the only organization he's known.
The contract value is the second or third highest in baseball history, behind the contract Alex Rodriguez (notes) signed with the New York Yankees in 2008 ($275 million) and perhaps higher than the one Rodriguez signed with the Texas Rangers in 2001 ($252 million).
Clearly of the mind to change direction after failing to reach the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the Angels will put Pujols in the middle of their lineup, steal more thunder from the limping Los Angeles Dodgers , and attempt to catch the prospering Texas Rangers in the AL West.
It was, perhaps, with some regret that a new beginning in Southern California will mean for Pujols that he will not be a Cardinal.
Over 11 years in St. Louis, Pujols had become a generational figure, the kind of ballplayer who defines an era of baseball in a city that runs on baseball.
He arrived in 2001 as Rookie of the Year. By 2005, he was an MVP. By 2009, a three-time MVP. And, by 2011, the Cardinals were World Series champions twice with him in the middle of their order and at the heart of their clubhouse.
In the fall of what might have been his final season there, fans rose at Busch Stadium to beseech him to stay or, in the worst scenario, to bid him farewell. It happened again and again as the Cardinals' season threatened to end, first in the regular season, then in each of three postseason rounds, and finally in the triumphant aftermath of Game 7 of the World Series.
Now he is gone, off to Anaheim.
To today's St. Louis he was its Musial, its Gibson, its Hornsby.
Musial and Gibson never left, of course, and Pujols' legacy as a Cardinal would be measured in part by that standard of loyalty – outdated as it may be.
Pujols and the Cardinals had begun the process of this contract – the one that could take Pujols do the end of his career – more than a year before. There were rumors Pujols wished to match Rodriguez's $275-million standard. There were debates over the responsibilities of the mid-market franchise, either to its public or its bottom line, and how those might be married.

Cardinals fans feared Pujols would be gone the moment he and his bat hit the open market. Competitive from April to October, the Cardinals certainly would be overmatched when the larger markets showed up in November and December.
An exceptional confluence of events served to contain the cost of Pujols and therefore keep him in St. Louis.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox were covered at first base by Mark Teixeira (notes) and Adrian Gonzalez (notes) , respectively, and their contracts in the hundreds of millions.
The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, former behemoths who a few years ago and a few years from now might have gone dollar-for-dollar and beyond with the Cardinals, have lost their financial bearings.
The Chicago Cubs also were in transition, settling as they are into a new owner, president (Theo Epstein) and general manager (Jed Hoyer).
Also, a younger Prince Fielder (notes) hit free agency alongside Pujols, tugging subtly at Pujols' market.
Up against a wildcat offer from the Miami Marlins , needs for the drawing power of a Pujols in downtrodden locales, and then potential interest the annually desperate Cubs, the Cardinals were not able to manage it all.
[Related: Passan's ultimate free-agent tracker ]
So, Pujols will not be a Cardinal on the day they raise the World Series banner and get their rings, and he will not defend the championship with them. Presumably, he will go to the Hall of Fame based on 11 years of Cardinals' seasons and the rest in suburban L.A., not at all in the manners of Musial and Gibson.
So, St. Louis goes on without its icon. The risks instead belong to Moreno and the Angels; that Pujols' salary will be a burden to a franchise that lacks the revenues of the larger markets and that Pujols will grow old and mediocre before the contract expires.
In a single winter, St. Louis would have to say good-bye to manager Tony La Russa and then to Pujols, so a large part of their conscience and their game. And it might be a while before the Cardinals look quite like the Cardinals again.

If Laws Change, 'Penny Hoarders' Could Cash in on Thousands of Dollars

Joe Henry is on a first name basis with bank tellers across his hometown of Medford, Ore., scouring 15 banks a week with one thing on his mind: pennies.
Henry is often seen toting around bags of pennies, some he buys, others he changes back in for cash, which seems a little strange at first. He's not a collector, he is what's known as a "penny hoarder" and he is not alone.
Inside a shed next to his house, Henry has orange tubs filled with 200,000 pennies, and he spends hours sorting through roll after roll of the coins. But it's not just any and all pennies, Henry is only interested in those that are dated from 1982 and earlier because those are the coins made with 95 percent copper. A copper penny is worth more than other pennies -- now mostly made of zinc --currently priced at $0.024.
"The copper has such a different sound than zinc pennies do," Henry said. "Real money has that definite sound of money and if you listen to a modern zinc penny, they don't sound the same, they sound sort of tinny."
Henry even has a $500 home counting machine to separate out the copper ones.
Much like the resurging obsession with gold, the price of copper has skyrocketed in recent years and the rising price has led to some unusual sprees. Thieves have been exploiting the value hidden in obscure items, stripping copper wiring from phone and utility cables, from construction sites, even from a 122-year-old copper bell that was stolen from a San Francisco cathedral.
In San Diego, so much copper wiring has been stolen from eight different city parks, that soccer teams can't practice because the field lights stopped working.
But penny hoarders aren't thieves, just opportunists. There are a slew of listing for pennies in bulk on eBay, but what's amazing is they include listings for $10 in pennies being sold for $20 dollars. If you think only a sucker would pay two cents for a penny, you're missing out on a business opportunity that Adam Youngs, who runs a massive penny sorting operation in Portland, Ore., has perfected.
He explained how he can sell a $100 worth of pennies for $176, when shipping and packaging are included.
Youngs' operation, the Portland Mint, is locked inside a secure facility that deals with armored cars -- selling and shipping to clients in every state --and works in pennies by the ton. He said he has clients with deep pockets who are storing huge sacks of pennies and he has inquires from hedge funds.
"Just in face value alone, about $270,000 dollars [in pennies] right now," Youngs said. "That is just the face value, that is not even the copper value. The copper value is about three times that much."
Inside the Portland Mint. Credit: ABC News Clients use Youngs because he separates copper pennies from the chump change -- the newer pennies that are only worth $0.01.
But in the weird world of penny hoarding, getting to the copper is a very big problem. It's illegal to melt pennies an there is an obscure federal law that makes it illegal to transport more than $5 in pennies out of the country.
Penny hoarders know this of course, but they also know something else. In what could be the biggest legislation to hit the U.S. Mint in 50 years, officials are now looking at the composition of pennies and nickels and considering an overhaul. If the laws change and the mint decides to abolish the penny, people would be free to melt them down for the copper.
A penny saved, many times over, could be a whole lot earned

Lil Boosie Sentenced to 8 Years After Pleading Guilty to Drug Smuggling charges

Lil Boosie just can't catch a break!
The "Wipe Me Down" rapper, who is currently in jail awaiting trial on murder charges, was sentenced to 8 years in prison this morning for previously attempting to smuggle drugs into both the Dixon Correctional Center and Angola State Penitentiary.
BatonRouge rapper Lil Boosie arrived
Tuesday morning for a pre-trial motion and
pleading guilty to drug charges.
Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, pled guilty to three counts of conspiring to bring drugs
institution. Judge Mike Erwin sentenced him to eight years in prison.
Investigators said he tried to smuggle drugs
Correctional Center once and into Angola State Penitentiary twice.
After the judge announced the sentencing,
requested drug rehab. Erwin said he would recommend it but could not order it.
Supporters for the rapper were seen hanging their heads low once the judge made that statement.
On another note, he walked into the courtroom wearing an expensive pair of Addidas tennis shoes, instead of prison-issued sneakers.
There were about 12 deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office surrounding Lil Boosie while he was in court.
Lil Boosie is also charged with first-degree murder in the death of Terry Boyd.
Prior to the plea, Erwin refused to remove District Attorney Hillar Moore from that case.
Lil Boosie's lawyers subpoenaed Michael Louding, also known as Marlo Mike, to testify on Lil Boosie's behalf after repeatedly trying to get Louding on the stand.
Louding's attorney, Margaret Lagatutta, said she will fight the subpoena.
Louding is accused of six separate murders.
Prosecutors said Louding told them he was hired as a hitman by Lil Boosie.
It is unclear if the death penalty is on the table.

Matt Breaks His Silence On Gloria Split: Claims She Had An ‘Affair’ With His Friend

Matt Breaks His Silence On Gloria Split: Claims She Had An 'Affair' With His Friend
Did Matt Barnes confirm the rumor that Gloria Govan was creeping with rapper 'The Game'?
Today, Matt took to his twitter and posted the following message regarding his separation to Gloria:
In May Gloria & I decided to separate & in the best interest of her career, I foolishly agreed to portray that we were still together. For her upcoming season of her show on VH1. As recently as August we decided to revisit a joint statement of our separation, but Gloria asked to delay making our separation public for the interest of her show. It is ironic now how Gloria is trying to manipulate The professional relationship between Eva Longoria & myself as the sole reason for our separation, when she knows we split up in May.
The reason why I broke my silence a month ago was because of the on going "affair" she was having with a now former FRIEND of mine. Again, I wish Gloria nothing but the best, & I will continue to keep our beautiful children as my first priority.. Thank you
According to Baller Alert, 'The Game' is telling anyone who will listen that he bedded 'Gloria'. A source claims they ran into The Game and asked him about Gloria and he was happy to admit that something happened between the two. Earlier this year, he name dropped her in a song titled, 'Good Girls Go Bad' in which he rapped:
I'm sittin here watchin' Basketball Wives Like ugh, them is basketball wives? Only cute one, Gloria, thats my n*gga Matt Barnes chick Can't swim in that poon fool, thats a crucial conflict Never sleep with the wife of n*ggas you eat with"
um..Yikes. What Matt did not make clear is whether Gloria cheated while they were in a relationship. Matt allegedly stepped out on Gloria plenty of times throughout the duration of their relationship so she could have possibly hooked up with his 'former friend' as of way of being spiteful.
The plot just thickened…

Tameka Raymond Threatens To Take Away custody of usher kids

Just when you thought the public divorce battle between Usher and Tameka Raymond was over, they are back at it again over custody of the kids. This time, Tameka is vying to take away Usher's shared custody of the kids because he continues to blow off his legal obligations in their co-parenting agreement.
Among things she says he failed to do are:
– obtain her permission to travel outside the state with the kids – get her approval before hiring nannies – give her first shot to watch the kids when he's away for more than 8 hours – allow her to take the kids for 2-weeks in the summer of 2011 – let her have custody of the kids during Christmas break 2010
She's also claiming that he closed her Saks 5th Avenue credit card without notice. There is definitely not a kids section in Saks Fifth Avenue, however according to Tameka's twitter, the card was used for Business purposes. Additional responses from her on the story were:
Haha I love how this guy manages to always be the victim. So masterful. Its amazing.
the headline is a lie, also its negative because it only tells a morsel. smh
But there's more to the story.. Tameka and Usher reportedly made an arrangement for him to pay her $5,000 a month to hire her own nanny, however he stopped making payments and now he's $34,000 behind in payments. She also claims that there has been a substantial change in his income since their divorce – with the success of his last album- and she should be entitled to more child support.
No matter how you look at it, Usher is about to be flooded with a bunch of 'I told you sos' from people who didn't think the relationship would work in the first place. It's unfortunate that kids are involved in this ongoing drama

Owners, players reach handshake deal to end lockout

By Adrian Wojnarowski Yahoo! Sports
The NBA and the Players Association have reached a tentative agreement to end the five-month old lockout and start the league's 2011-12 season on Dec. 25.
After 16 hours of negotiations Friday, the two sides reached a handshake agreement a little after 3 a.m. ET in New York. Both sides must still get a majority vote from the 29 owners and 450 players to finalize the agreement – as well as negotiate a series of smaller issues like a drug testing policy.
"We're optimistic that the [agreement] will hold and we'll have ourselves an NBA season," NBA commissioner David Stern said at a brief news conference held in New York with Players Association executive director Billy Hunter and president Derek Fisher (notes) .
Free agency and training camps will start on Dec. 9, Stern said. Under the current agreement, the regular season would have a 66-game schedule that begins on Christmas Day with three games: Boston Celtics at the New York Knicks; Miami Heat at the Dallas Mavericks; and Chicago Bulls at the Los Angeles Lakers.
"We thought it was in both of our interest to try to reach a resolution and save the game and to be able to provide the mind of superb entertainment the NBA historically has provided," Hunter said.
After disbanding as a union and filing an antitrust suit against the NBA, the Players Association needs to reform as a union and hold a vote to ratify the deal. The terms of the agreement included a 50-50 revenue split between the owners and players, a source said.
"I speak for everyone when we say, 'If we work, we're excited," Lakers forward Matt Barnes said. "I thought we'd eventually come to something. The league is doing too well to dismiss the season. I thought we'd get started in January or February."
The settlement talks between the two sides began Tuesday and intensified Friday. Fisher flew to New York to join the negotiations that also included deputy commissioner Adam Silver, San Antonio Spurs owner Peter Holt, who chairs the owners' labor relations committee, and lawyers for both sides.
"It was a roller-coaster ride," Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry said. "I followed every negotiating session and got my hopes up many times."
The two sides thought they had previously been within reach of a deal a month ago only to have talks break down. After Stern threatened the players with a "reset" offer that would have included a 53 percent share of revenue for the owners, the players decided to disband their union on Nov. 14.
"The reason for the settlement was we've got fans, we've got players who would like to play and we've got others who are dependent on us," Stern said. "And it's always been our goal to reach a deal that was fair to both sides and get us playing as soon as possible, but that took a little time."

MLB-Greg halman stabbed to death

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP)—Seattle Mariners outfielder Greg Halman was stabbed to death early Monday and his brother was arrested as a suspect, Dutch police said.

Rotterdam Police spokeswoman Patricia Wessels said police were called to a home in the port city in the early hours of the morning and found the 24-year-old Dutch player bleeding from a stab wound.

The officers and ambulance paramedics were unable to resuscitate Halman.

Wessels said the officers arrested Halman's 22-year-old brother. She declined to give his name, in line with Dutch privacy rules.

"He is under arrest and right now he is being questioned," Wessels told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "It will take some time to figure out what exactly happened."

No charges have been filed in the case.

Halman hit .230 in 35 games and made starts at all three outfield positions for the Mariners in 2011 before being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Because he played professionally in the United States, Halman was not part of the Netherlands team that won the Baseball World Cup in Panama last month. The Dutch beat Cuba 2-1 in the final to become the first European team to win the title.

Born in the city of Haarlem, Halman played in the Dutch Pro League and was part of the gold medal winning Dutch squad at the 2007 European Championship

Kimbella Disses fabolous?

Video vixen Kimbella had nothing but sour words for her ex-boo Fabolous. The "Love & Hip Hop" star says she's not interested in constantly referencing her old relationship and that Fab isn't a part of her world anymore.

"Me? No! Why would I ever talk to Fab?," Kimbella said when asked if she got Fab's opinion on the show. "He's a non-factor in my life. He was someone in my past and I don't speak to people in my past. I'm not giving him anymore five minutes of fame. My situation is with my kids and my career, nothing else, so that's where I'm leaving that."

"The reason I signed up to do this is for my fans and people that are interested in me as a personality to see who I am as the real me," she added. "I'm very secure in myself, I keep it 100 and I really don't give a f*ck. At the end of the day, I'm going to be me and portray me the way I am. You guys will get to see everything I went through, as far as being surrounded by new women in the industry and them trying to get to know me and just the different things I had to go through."

Missing 1-year-old boy found dead st.lpuos county cemetary

Body found just hours after toddler was reported missing BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
St. Louis County police spokesperson Rick Eckhard holds a blanket and pajama top identical to the one 1-year-old Tyler Dasher had on him when he disappeared.
AFFTON, Mo. - A small body found Tuesday near a St. Louis County cemetery is that of a 1-year-old boy reported missing hours earlier from his home, police said.
But the medical examiner who confirmed the body as that of Tyler Dasher did not immediately determine the cause of death, county police spokesman Rick Eckhard said. Police did not plan to release any more information until Wednesday morning.
Tyler was reported missing around 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Affton home he shared with his mother, 20-year-old Shelby Dasher, and his grandmother. Shelby Dasher told police she had put Tyler to bed after midnight, then overslept and

discovery.
Eckhard said in a written statement that police did not yet have a motive "for the abduction or apparent homicide."
St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said at a news conference earlier Tuesday that people walking a dog found the body around 3:30 p.m. about a mile from the home.
No one has been arrested. Tyler's mother and father, who live separately, are both cooperating with police, Fitch said.
"At this point there are no suspects. Nor has anyone been eliminated as a suspect," Fitch said.
A long, wide area near the cemetery was cordoned off with yellow police tape. Police dogs sniffed the ground while officers placed barricades around the area where the small body was found. A small cluster of young adults cried and hugged as they watched from the cemetery. It wasn't clear if they were relatives of Tyler, and they declined interview requests.
The body was within about 100 feet of a busy road.
"It says to me it's a pretty sick person," Fitch said. "Anybody that would take a child and leave a child in a wooded area in that condition needs to be dealt with severely by the criminal justice system."
Fitch declined to discuss the condition of the body.
Police immediately suspected foul play because it was unlikely a 13-month-old could get himself out of his crib and wander from his home.
Meanwhile, police received reports of a man in a dark hoody carrying a small child in a blanket on Tuesday along a wooded area not far from the family home.
Fitch said officers were searching for that man for questioning.

Husband Combs Florida Landfill to Find Wife's engagement ring

Anna McGuinn really loves her custom-made engagement ring – and it's even more precious now that her husband, Brian McGuinn, combed through tons of disgusting garbage to retrieve it after accidentally tossing it in the trash.

The ring saga played out on Halloween, when McGuinn, 31, of Margate, Fla., went to her jewelry box to look for her $10,000 diamond. She had handed it to her husband the night before when she was about to shower and asked him to put it in the box.

But the ring wasn't there. Brian McGuinn, 34, soon realized he must have thrown it away along with a disposable razor his wife had handed him at the same time. And the trash had already been picked up that morning.

"I was saying to myself, 'OK, no one died, get a grip,'" Anna McGuinn said. "Then I started crying again."

Desperate, she called Wheelabrator North Broward, which processes their garbage, and was surprised to hear that they had a protocol for the situation and would allow a search operation.

"Obviously my husband volunteered," said Anna McGuinn, a medical practice administrator who is five months' pregnant with her first child.

Her husband suited up "like an alien," she said, pawed through a 10-foot-high pile of garbage with the help of a sanitation worker, Joe Ryan, who knew the pickup had been one of the first of the day, which made it easier to locate the area where a search might be fruitful.

After her husband pawed through feces and carcasses, Anna McGuinn said, "He sees my hot pink frozen yogurt cup that I had requested the night before."

Then, he spotted the razor. Then, "there's this silver nail glaring at him in the sludge. He takes the glove off, sticks his hand down and sure enough it's my diamond."

He came home, she said, and, "He stuck that stinky sludge-covered ring on my finger."

She had it cleaned at a jeweler's but said from now on, "I'm not taking it off anymore."

Jim Epsilantis, plant manager at Wheelabrator, said the company tries to help the people who frantically call two or three times a year about lost items.

"We're part of the community," he said. "I knew how I've felt in the past when I threw away something near and dear to my heart."

In this case, he said, Brian McGuinn was lucky to find the ring in about an hour.

"It was like hitting the lottery," Epsilantis said. "He was one happy young man."

Smokin' Joe Frazier loses his battle against liver cancer, dead at 67 -Boxing Experts Blog - Boxing Blog

By Steve Cofield Boxing Experts

Joe Frazier, one of the biggest sports icons of the 1960's and 70's, passed away tonight from live cancer at the age of 67. He was diagnosed less than six weeks ago and spent his final days in a Philadelphia-area hospice.

His family released this statement:

"We The Family of the 1964 Olympic Boxing Heavyweight Gold Medalist, Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame Member Smokin' Joe Frazier, regrets to inform you of his passing. He transitioned from this life as "One of God's Men," on the eve of November 7, 2011at his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We thank you for your prayers for our Father and vast outpouring of love and support.

Respectfully, we request time to grieve privately as a family. Our father's home going celebration will be announced as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding."

In the weeks before his death, Frazier was said to have lost 50 pounds. Friends like the Rev. Jesse Jackson and fellow heavyweight king Larry Holmes requested visits, but Frazier decided against it.

"Joe doesn't want to see anybody, the way he is now," his manager Les Wolff explained earlier this week . "I think you can understand why. He's a proud man."

Frazier's legacy is etched in stone as part of the greatest individual rivalry in sports history. The stocky, less than graceful Frazier was the perfect foil for the elegant and athletic Muhammad Ali.

Their trilogy between 1971 and 1975 tops everything in boxing's long history. Frazier was the first person to defeat Ali.

Outside the ring, Frazier was helpless in the p.r. battle against the loquacious and charismatic Ali. Ali made it personal before their first meeting in 1971 calling the quiet Frazier an "Uncle Tom."

Both unbeaten, Frazier met Ali in New York City's Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971 and got his revenge winning "The Fight of the Century" via unanimous decision. He cemented the victory by flooring Ali with a leaping left hook, his trademark punch, in the 15th round.

To illustrate the lack of respect Frazier received from some, veteran boxing writer Jerry Izenberg told the story of the fighter greeting some kids on the streets of his adopted hometown of North Philadelphia a week after the biggest victory of his career.

[...] Joe told them: "Now y'all stay in school. Don't make me have to find you."

Two of them laughed, but the third one said:

"My daddy says Muhammad Ali was drugged,"

In that instant a cold, cold mask seemed to slide across the champion's face. "'Yeah ... yeah," Joe said, "I drugged him with a left hook." And they saw the look in his eyes and all three of them ran away.

Frazier turned to me and said:

"You heard that. What I got to do? What the hell I got to do?"

There was nothing he could do. Frazier, a reserved gentleman was never going to win a trash talk battle against Ali. Ali went on to win the 1972 rematch against Frazier, again at Madison Square Garden.

The third fight in the Philippines, "The Thrilla in Manila" trumped the first two. A back and forth battle, it ended after 14 rounds because Frazier's eyes were nearly swollen shut. His trainer Eddie Futch argued with his fighter before calling it a night. On a night with the temperature in Manila hovered around 100 degree, rounds 13 and 14 were grueling. Both fighters were completely exhausted, but still wailed away each other.

Frazier fought just two more times. He lost badly to George Foreman in 1976 and fought to a draw during a short-lived comeback in 1981.

Frazier was born in the poor town of Beaufort, S.C. He was the youngest of 12 children. The son of Rubin and Dolly Frazier, he re-located to Philadelphia as a teenager.

While working in a slaughterhouse, Frazier began to take boxing seriously. By the time he was 20, Frazier was one of the elite heavyweight prospects in the world. He stormed to the Olympic heavyweight gold medal in 1964 in Tokyo. Six years later he was the king of the heavyweight division winning the WBA belt with a fifth-round TKO stoppage of Jimmy Ellis.

Frazier was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. He finished his brilliant career with professional record of 32-4-1, 27 of the wins came by knockout.

Lindsay Lohan checks in and out of LA Co

LYNWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Lindsay Lohan was released from a Los Angeles County jail early Monday, less than five hours after she arrived at the crowded women's lockup to serve a 30-day sentence for violating probation.

The "Mean Girls" actress was booked into the Century Regional Detention facility in Lynwood at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, in what was expected to be a short stay because of jail overcrowding.

She was released at 1:35 a.m., county sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

News crews staking out the jail said she left in a black Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle, and that she was in her Venice home by 2 a.m.

Lohan did not get any favors, Whitmore said.

"She's treated like every other inmate who has gone through similar circumstances," he said.

Lohan had until Nov. 9 to report to the jail.

It's Lohan's fifth jail sentence since being arrested twice for drunken driving in 2007.

Her brief return to jail came after Lohan completed an interview and photo shoot for Playboy magazine that will appear in the January/February issue, her spokesman Steve Honig wrote in an email Monday.

On Wednesday, a judge ordered jail time because Lohan recently violated court orders by getting booted from a community service assignment at a women's shelter.

The judge imposed a complicated sentence, telling Lohan that she will now have to perform all of her community service at the county morgue or risk serving an additional 270 days in jail.

Lohan will have to serve 423 hours at the county morgue, where for nearly two weeks she has been mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and washing dirty sheets.

The sentence also requires Lohan to undergo psychotherapy sessions and appear monthly at court hearings between December and March.

The judge also said Lohan can no longer leave the country and needs the permission of her new "no-nonsense" probation officer to travel outside California.

Jail overcrowding has led to significantly shortened jail terms.

In 2007, Lohan spent 84 minutes at the jail before being released, and in the past she has served about 20 percent of her sentence, which is roughly six days.

"The longer the sentence, the longer you stay in jail," Whitmore said.

"As pathetic as it sounds, this is not necessarily special treatment," said Adam H. Braun, a defense attorney who was not involved in the case. "It just depends how full the jail is when someone surrenders. If it is filled to capacity or nearly full, offenders like her are the first ones let go so more serious offenders can be held."

"Even so, she was not likely to do more than 20 percent of the 30 days under the jail crowding formulas being used because her offense was not a crime of violence," he added in an email.

Jackson doctor convicted in star's 2009 drug death

LOS ANGELES (AP) —Michael Jackson's doctor was convicted Monday ofinvoluntary manslaughterafter a trial that painted him as a reckless caregiver who administered a lethal dose of a powerful anesthetic that killed the pop star. The verdict against Dr.Conrad Murraymarked the latest chapter in one of pop culture's most shocking tragedies — the death of the King of Pop on the eve of the singer's heavily promoted comeback concerts. Murray sat stone-faced and showed little reaction at the verdict. There was a shriek in the courtroom when the verdict was read, and the crowd erupted outside the courthouse. The judge polled the jury, and each juror answered "yes" when asked whether their verdict was guilty. The jury deliberated less than nine hours. Murray, 58, faces a sentence of up to four years in prison. He could also lose his medical license. Jackson died on June 25, 2009. The complete story of his death finally emerged during the six-week trial. It was the tale of a tormented genius on the brink of what might have been his greatest triumph with one impediment standing in his way —extreme insomnia. Testimony came from medical experts, household employees and Murray's former girlfriends, among others. The most shocking moments, however, came when prosecutors displayed a large picture of Jackson's gaunt, lifeless body on a hospital gurney and played the sound of his drugged, slurred voice, as recorded by Murray just weeks before the singer's death. Jackson talked about plans for a fantastic children's hospital and his hope of cementing a legacy larger than that ofElvis Presleyor The Beatles. "We have to be phenomenal," he said about his "This Is It" concerts in London. "When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, 'I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I've never seen nothing like this. Go. It's amazing. He's the greatest entertainer in the world.'" Throughout the trial, Jackson family members watched from the spectator gallery, fans gathered outside with signs and T-shirts demanding, "Justice for Michael," and an international press corps broadcast reports around the world. The trial was televised and streamed on the Internet. Prosecutors portrayed Murray as an incompetent doctor who used the anesthetic propofol without adequate safeguards and whose neglect left Jackson abandoned as he lay dying. Murray's lawyers sought to show the doctor was a medical angel of mercy with former patients vouching for his skills. Murray told police from the outset that he gave Jackson propofol and other sedatives as the star struggled for sleep to prepare for his shows. But the doctor said he administered only a small dose on the day Jackson died. Lawyers for Murray and a defense expert blamed Jackson for his own death, saying the singer gave himself the fatal dose of propofol while Murray wasn't watching. A prosecution expert said that theory was crazy. Murray said he had formed a close friendship with Jackson, never meant to harm him and couldn't explain why he died. The circumstances of Jackson's death at the age of 50 were as bizarre as any chapter in the superstar's sensational life story. Jackson was found not breathing in his own bed in his rented mansion after being dosed intravenously with propofol, a drug normally administered in hospitals during surgery. The coroner ruled the case a homicide and the blame would fall to the last person who had seen Jackson alive — Murray, who had been hired to care for the singer as the comeback concerts neared. Craving sleep, Jackson had searched for a doctor who would give him the intravenous anesthetic that Jackson called his "milk" and believed to be his salvation. Other medical professionals turned him down, according to trial testimony. Murray gave up his practices in Houston and Las Vegas and agreed to travel with Jackson and work as his personal physician indefinitely. For six weeks, as Jackson undertook strenuous rehearsals, Murray infused him with propofol every night, the doctor told police. He later tried to wean Jackson from the drug because he feared he was becoming addicted. Jackson planned to pay Murray $150,000 a month for an extended tour in Europe. In the end, the doctor was never paid a penny because Jackson died before signing the contract. During the last 24 hours of his life, Jackson sang and danced at a spirited rehearsal, reveling in the adulation of fans who greeted him outside. Then came a night of horror, chasing sleep — the most elusive treasure the millionaire entertainer could not buy. Testimony showed Murray gave Jackson intravenous doses that night of the sedatives lorazepam and midazolam. Jackson also took a Valium pill. But nothing seemed to bring sleep. Finally, Murray told police, he gave the singer a small dose of propofol — 25 milligrams — that seemed to put him to sleep. The doctor said he felt it was safe to leave his patient's bedside for a few minutes, but Jackson was not breathing when he returned. Witnesses said he was most likely dead at that point. What happened next was a matter of dispute during the trial. Security and household staff described Murray as panicked, never calling emergency services but trying to give Jackson CPR on his bed instead of the firm floor. A guard said Murray was concerned with packing up and hiding medicine bottles and IV equipment before telling him to call emergency services. Prosecutors said Murray was distracted while Jackson was sedated, citing Murray's cell phone records to show he made numerous calls. Authorities never accused Murray of intending to kill the star, and it took eight months for them to file the involuntary manslaughter charge against him. It was the lowest possible felony charge involving a homicide. There was no law against administering propofol or the other sedatives. But prosecution expert witnesses said Murray was acting well below the standard of care required of a physician. They said using propofol in a home setting without lifesaving equipment on hand was an egregious deviation from that standard. They called it gross negligence, the legal basis for an involuntary manslaughter charge. The defense team countered with its own expert who presented calculations suggesting that Jackson gave himself the fatal dose. In closing arguments, the prosecutor said the mystery of what happened behind the closed doors of Jackson's bedroom on the fatal day probably would never be solved.

Judge Issues Bench Warrant For Terrell Over child support payments

Terrell Owens is not having a good year. Thank goodness it's almost over. Despite repeatedly crying on the T.O show over his financial woes and pleading with a judge to lower his child support payments Terrell Owens still remains unsigned without any income with the same child support payment he started with.
Monique Reynolds, the mother of Owen's child, reported Owens for lack of payment. A hearing was scheduled in family court for November 1st but T.O was a no-show. According to TMZ, Terrell's rep tried to reschedule the date but Monique wasn't going for it.
T.O's rep stated "the warrant is currently being taken care of". No bars for Terrell Owens....could you imagine how much crying he would do?!

Former heavyweight champ Joe Frazier deadly ill with liver cancer

By Steve Cofield Yahoo! Sports
According to the N.Y. Post's Kevin Kernan , the 67-year-old Frazier is battling advanced stages of liver cancer.
"He's in serious shape, we're looking for a miracle,'' said a source close to the former heavyweight champ. "They're only giving him a short time to live. We need to have as many people as possible praying for Joe right now.''
According to Leslie Wolff, Frazier's personal and business manager, the former fighter was diagnosed four or five weeks ago, but hasn't been told how long he has to live.
"We have medical experts looking into all the options that are out there," Wolff told the AP . "There are very few. But that doesn't mean we're going to stop looking."
Frazier will always be linked to Muhammad Ali for their series of fights between 1971-1975.
Their first meeting dubbed "The Fight of the Century" came in 1971 at New York's Madison Square Garden when both fighters were unbeaten. They earned a record sum of $2.5 million each. The lead up to fight had a good vs. evil feel.
For fans, either Frazier or Ali filled the role. Frazier won a one-sided decision (11-4, 9-6 and 8-6) handing Ali his first career loss. He floored Ali in the 15th round.
Ali took the 1974 rematch at MSG via majority decision.
The "Thrilla in Manilla" closed out the trilogy. In 1999,ESPN's SportsCenturynamed the bout the fifth greatest sporting event of the 20th century.
Frazier retired with one final fight in 1981 with a career mark of 32-4 with 27 KO's.
Frazier has always been regarded as a gentleman.
The son of a South Carolina sharecropper, Frazier was on the 1964 Olympic team and won a gold medal. Over his career, he won 32 fights, 27 by knockout. He had four losses and one draw. He won his first 11 fights by knock out. In 1968, he beat Buster Mathis for the New York State world title at Madison Square Garden. He made six title defenses after that over the next several years.
He was most recently seen in Las Vegas around the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz fight. He participated in a series of autograph signings.

Amber Rose Mocks Kanye West Emotional Outburst On Watch The Throne Tour

Amber Rose has little sympathy for Kanye West and his repeated emotional rants about their past relationship. Amber is thankful that Kanye finally recognizes that there were some faults on his part that caused the break down of their relationship.
On Wednesday night, Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne tour stopped in Philly. Kanye made a plea to Amber in a freestyle to 'Runway':
"I know love ain't always easy. Especially with people in your business all the time. I want ya'll to do me a favor tonight, if you love somebody tonight….hold on real tight," he tells the audience.
"To the city of Philly, I wanna thank ya'll for making an incredible person that this song was made for."
And you'll always be fine but the one thing I f*cked up the most was that I thought you'd always be mine. I thought you'd always be mine. I thought you'd always be mine…
In response Amber tells Complex Magazine,
"I'll say this—I didn't even know about it. This is my 50thinterview today and every single person has asked me, and it made me go see what the hell they were talking about, because I don't keep up on the current events of Kanye. I just don't look him up."
"A lot of is just negativity and I don't like to bring that energy into my life. But I did look at it and he said that, he said um, "When I said that I didn't like your dress, I was an asshole. When I said that I didn't like your hair, I was an asshole."
"And he was an asshole. He was. I feel like he gets that now, and he's remorseful about being an asshole to me."
"But he called me an incredible person, and I take that as an apology. And if it was an apology, I forgive him for being an asshole. I don't hold any grudges. I don't hate him. I want him to find a girl and for him to treat her better than he treated me."
"The next girl, she doesn't deserve that. I found pure happiness with Wiz. Why wouldn't I want that for Kanye? I want everyone to have that, to feel the way I feel about Wiz."

Basketball Wives Evelyn Lozada Signs a book deal with young money and lil wayne

Here are the details.
The book series to be co-authored by novelist and former Law & Order: Criminal Intent writer Courtney Parker. The books will be loosely based on Lozada's life, using the alter ego Eve Inez-Landon to fictionalize the true stories she has learned from years of dating professional athletes. "The stories that you
hear—what goes on in these relationships, and just being in that circle—I decided to let everyone experience a piece of it for themselves by writing this series of juicy novels," Lozada said.
"By partnering with Baby and Cash Money Content, we have the potential to turn these 'novels' into a full-fledged brand," Lozada explains. "Everything Baby and CMC touches turns to gold, and our brands together will be magical."
She definitely knows a lot about being a fictional wife, so there is a ton of source material there. The name of the book is The Wives Association. She wants to turn the book into a movie and if Steve Harvey can do it I guess Evelyn can too.
It is all about how you expand your 15 minutes offame, so Evelyn can truly say she is signed to Young Money. Bow Wow is somewhere salty about all of this, while Wayne is shopping for more Jeggins

Father-daughter wedding dance leads to big opportunities

http://m.yahoo.com/w/web/video?u=url%5B%5D%3D27138015%26lg%3Dtodaymodule&b=

When Ashley Richmond told her dad she was getting married, he was already thinking about his first dance with the bride .

“He said right away we’re not going to do a slow dance,” Ashley tells Shine. Father-of-the-bride David Sparks was prepared to put on a show for his daughter’s wedding guests, but neither he nor Ashley were prepared for the 7 million viewers who’d turn their wedding reception video into a viral sensation .

It’s been dubbed the best father-daughter dance ever: a medley spanning musical genres choregralphed by Ashley and her dad and performed on her big day. A month after their August 8 wedding, she posted the video on YouTube and things haven’t been the same since.

There have been interviews with major news outlets, a live performance on Good Morning America, a front page article on their hometown paper, The Houston Chronicle. And more Facebook friend requests than Ashley cani keep up with. “My dad and I, we actually had people stop us at the airport because they recognize us from the video,” says Ashley, an accountant for an oil company. “But it’s funny because I just started a new job and nobody seems to know at work.”

That might change soon. Ashley, 28, and David, 51, have even more talk show appearances lined up in the near future. Perhaps a new dance? “We haven't thought about it, but we are trying to think of ways to stay relevant.” (Hear that, "Dancing with the Stars" producers?)

None of this was on her mind when they began practicing for their big number in June. Originally, she asked her husband, Nicholas, whom she met through mutual friends five years ago, to choregraph a dance number with her for the wedding. It wasn’t his thing, so Ashley recruited her dad who was only too eager to get on the floor with her on the condition that Michael Jackson joined the party.

“He loves Michael Jackson so he wanted to do a dance to him.” And dance they did: to the Jackson 5’s "One More Chance", sandwiched in between "My Girl" and Beyonce’s "Put a Ring On It" and a slew of other hits.

Twice a week, for two months before the event, father and daughter, who live a block away from each other, practiced their moves. The groom to be and the mother of the bride, Angel, meanwhile, served as judges, offering support and the occasional critique.

“After watching us practice, Nicholas decided he wanted to do a dance with his mom to a Beyonce song,” says Ashley, “so they started practicing too.”

But it wasn’t meant to be. The deejay couldn’t find Nick's requested Beyonce track on the day of the wedding and his dance with his mom got cut.

The fact that Ashley and her dad’s number became a worldwide sensation? Well that didn’t help things. “I think in the beginning there was some bitterness, but now he’s really happy and excited for us.”

You know what they say about marriage: if you can weather your first viral video together, you can do anything.

Wendy Williams Grills Draya On Her Son, Chris Brown And Past Lovers

Wendy Williams was not sparing any judgement for Basketball Wives LA star Draya Howard Michele. Williams went straight to the rumor of Draya dating a dozen basketball players, even sleeping with several in one night! Like a train! Her relationship with Chris Brown, her child endangerment charges and whether or not she considers herself to be worthy of being a wife....a real wife.

On dating a dozen basketball players:

"I would have millions by now if I were doing crazy, wild stuff like that." "The three basketball players… I haven't even been with three basketball players in one month, let alone day. I like to space them out a little bit."

"This girl has gotten around," Wendy joked. On whether any man would take her serious after her past was made public, Draya responded,

"Anything you do in your past can be cleaned up.

On her child endangerment charges:

"I discussed it in 2010. I discussed it on the show, and it's just like, I just want to move on with my life and show the people that I'm not this person that they created me out to be."

25 year old woman killed her children(please leave comments)

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) --A Metro-East mother, accused of shooting and killing two of her small children, has been charged with two counts of assault and two counts of armed criminal action. Yokeia Smith, 25, was arrested directly outside the KMOV newsroom in downtown St. Louis on Wednesday, around 6:30 p.m. after her 8-year-old son told police that his mother killed his 5-year-old sister and 4-year-old brother in their East St. Louis home. Officers said Smith also hit three people with her vehicle who were crossing Market Street in downtown St. Louis. On Thursday afternonn, she was charged with two felony counts of 1st degree assualt and two felony counts of armed criminal action. Authorities in East St. Louis say they are dealing with one of the most gruesome crime scenes they have ever seen after finding the two small children inside of a Metro-East apartment. The 8-year-old child was able to escape injury. On Thursday, St. Clair County Coroner, Danny Haskenhoff, said the autopsy results suggest that the children were shot in the head at close range and died instantly. A News 4 photographer was an eyewitness to the end of the search for the woman. She says she saw the driver speed down Market Street and strike a three people. Minutes later, Smith reportedly got out of her vehicle with a loaded shotgun. Then she sat on a bench right outside 1 South Memorial Drive with the shotgun. St. Louis Police arrived moments later and arrested the woman. Police say the people who were struck are from Iowa. Their injuries are not life-threatening. According to police records, Smith was investigated twice between December 2007 and March of this year by Illinois' Department of Children and Family Services on allegations of child neglect but never for reports involving physical abuse, spokesman Kendall Marlowe said. He declined to detail the claims, citing privacy laws. Smith never lost custody of her children, Marlowe said. Police briefly took protective custody once, but DCFS did not take that matter to court because the Smith's relatives took steps to adequately ensure the children's well-being, Marlowe said. The state agency also offered the Smith aid, but she refused it, Marlowe said. He described DCFS as "reaching out to the family and helping in whatever way we can," from February 2008 to April 2009. Smith is currently being held in the St. Louis city jail. Her bond is set at $100,000, cash only.
