Ranisha Cole, 17, was killed in a shooting Saturday night outside the Pulse nightclub on North Broadway, St. Louis police officials said today.
A crowd of teenagers, including some who had been turned away from the club at 8370 N. Broadway, were standing in the parking lot about 10:20 p.m. when suspects in two cars started firing. It’s unclear whether the targets were in the cars or among the crowd, police said.
Cole, of St. Louis, was shot in the head and abdomen and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. She had been riding in one of the cars when she was hit, police said.
Eight other teenagers, six boys and two girls ages 14 to 18 were wounded in the gunfire while standing in the parking lot, police said. A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition from a shot to the neck and is believed to be paralyzed. Seven other teens were treated and released.
Both cars sped away after firing  several rounds, police said. Witnesses described one car as red with tinted windows and the other as a silver four-door.
The police investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made. At least one of the suspects is in his midteens, police said.
